Jaap,
Point is the English word. The thirty-two named directions on the traditional compass rose are points. Something one point to starboard is 11.25 degrees off the current bearing.

An 11.25° angle is called a "kompasstreek" [en: compass ???] in Dutch and is still used in formal regulations, like on navigation lights on ships. Is there an English word for this?

Jaap
