    I agree with you on the oil Marty.  It eventually becomes a pain in the backside.  It's a devil to pour and a devil to carry in a traylike container.  It soon picks up dust, but you can't polish it, and it eventually works its way through any joints in the container.  I've had a biscuit tin full in my garage waiting for me to summon up the courage to pour it back into the tin, because I know it's going to make a mess.  one thing I have found is that it helps if ay all times the tin's sitting on a weekend size newspaper.  I'm going to stick with my mirror from now on until I can drive to south facing coast.
