This January 14 , 2012 will be my first attempt at CN aboard a commercial night flight from Los Angeles to Orlando. A starboard window seat has been reserved to get a good look at the Moon and Mars which will be in conjunction and making a meridional passage during the second half of the flight. Sirius and Alphard will be available on the first half to warm up on and get a feel for how the A-7 handles. There will be a double plex port to observe through. Extra corrections will have to be made for the anticipated 450 kt speed of the jet. Most commercial flights now have a screen for the passengers showing aircraft speed, course, and GPS position. This should give me an idea of how well I'm doing. The linked image shows the final two legs of the trip using a great circle course divided into 5 degree longitude legs.
