    Chronometer Error
    From: John Cole
    Date: 2006 Dec 21, 17:32 -0800

I've just gone through the ritual of checking my quartz chronometer
against the time signal. I do this four to six times a year and plot
the results. The plot is a straight line between battery changes about
18-24 months apart. This Chelsea Navigator is fast on GMT 0.39
seconds/day. Being anal compulsive about the chronometer I've never
waited to see what happens to the error towards the end of the battery
life. Can anyone tell me what happens? Does the clock just stop or
does the error vary and signal the end of battery life?

Another question for those who have one of those beautiful Hamilton
mechanical chronometers: What does the error plot look like?
