Quite right. It does sometimes snow in Australia at Christmas but I would
hate to be trying to make a living backing it. Sydney I am sure will forever
    remain snow free at Christmas.
Yes I did find a place in Sydney that not only silvers the front surface of
mirrors but will also cut, grind and bevel sextant mirrors to size.

In keeping with the quest for truth and concern with detail that prevails in
this list, I feel I must correct you. Many places in the higher country of
southern Australia and in Tasmania have experienced white Christmases from
time to time. For example, on Christmas morning in 1968 in Canberra I awoke
    to a blanket of white.
Today, as I pack the ice and champagne in the esky in preparation for a
visit to nearby Canberra and family, the temperature is 32C, with a
    brilliant blue sky.
I have taken the liberty of redrafting your salutation to reflect these
Merry Chrismas to all list members.....from the land down under, a land of
    surprises and contrasts.

PS By the way, did you ever find a place to resilver your sextant mirrors?
