I don't see the need, other than nostalgia, for a Traverse Board on a sailboat, unless you can't read and write. I find a pocket notebook much more compact and useful. Format : To/Frm CC TC KTs Time Dist As for a Chip Log a 4' to 8' length of 2x4 with enough small line attached to trail 50 ft. and to tie off on the stern, plus a pair of knots spaced 100 ft. apart. Trail the line to the first knot, count the seconds to the second knot. Divide 60 by the seconds the result is speed in knots.
