Herbert. Thank you for your input - your opinions are always measured and balanced. By "unabridged and uneditorialized" I simply meant unchanged by me to make a point. My issue in this matter is Frank's apparent predeliction to introduce issues into a discussion which are irrelevant, i.e., "jousting with windmills". I certainly never did, nor to the best of my recollection did George or anyone else in recent memory, claim that Bro. Chauvenet was a practical navigator - he wasn't and that's that, so why the rant? Methinks that, if we throw out any opinion not originating from a "practical navigator" this List would become pretty barren. Regardless of your opinion regarding the St. Andrews website, can you address any errors in the article that I posted therefrom, which I believe covers several points not mentioned in the previous posts.
