    Hello Peter,

For decades, I have always used :

1 centimeter equals one nautical mile to plot intercepts.

All computations made with Calculators with DR position (or equivalent) chosen as close as possible from true position.

    *******

After some weeks of use - in a quite remote past (almost 40 years back) - I ceased using the "Approximate Fix Computation method" , (i.e. the one with the HO xxx tables which for simplicity uses full degree assumed latitudes, and/or full degree assumed local hour angles) because the associated intercepts can be extremely important (over 30 NM) as they also yield extra and unecessary plotting inaccuracies.
