    To make the degree symbol hold down the ALT key while typing 167 on
    the numeric keypad (not the top row of numbers.) If you do not have a
    separate numeric keypad engage NUMLOCK and use the keys on the
    keyboard that substitute for a numeric keybard (on my Fusitsu laptop I
    engage NUMLOCK then do ALT JO7.)
