Hmmm... you've got me on that one. When I compose in plain text on my version of OE everything displays in what looks like some 12-point proportional font (Arial? That seems to be the Microsoft default for a lot of things), and I just copied several characters from Character Map and they all formatted in the same font and size as the text that was already there. Just so we're on the same page, you might want to check your OE settings - under |Tools|Options|Send|Plain Text Settings| I have "MIME" selected for "Message format", "Encode text using" set to "None", and "Allow 8-bit characters in headers" is un-checked (the rest of the options don't matter for what we're discussing here). -- GregR > I had requested help to deal with this problem.
