    The prism set has another
    very substantial advantage in comparison
    with Star or Lunar distances:
one can combine it with Franks
    laser beam proposal.
    Then the testing becomes independent
    of the observer's eyes.

    Bill and I found recently
Frank's laser beam method works reasobably well
for checking the Index error. If we had a set
of prizms we could check the whole arc
    in the same way.

I suppose this method is superior to other methods
of checking arc errors because it does not involve
collimators or any sophisticated and expensive equipment,
    just a set of prisms.
