Thank you for the article.
It is completely inline with what Mr Steven Callahan did in his 76-day drift an my personal attitude to emergency CN. Also it is in stark contrast with Mr Robert Trumbull's story (at least as it was represented). I'd prefer to do DR and CN rather than just pray.
A question about the Fig.2 in the article: what do the dashed and solid arcs represent there?
Z is obviously the zenith, X is the rising/setting Sun, P is the elevated pole. Also I recognise the local meridian, the prime vertical and the Sun's azimuth (which is marked as the 90° radius). The outer circle is the horizon, but the two remaining arcs puzzle me. What are they?
