In the figure that shows the inclination of the earth's axis of rotation to to ecliptic, I suggest you stay with the convention you're using of red for the earth's axis of rotation, and show the path of the earth AND the perpendicular to it in another color, maybe yellow. This would avoid any confusion of what's what with the earth, and make the connection of ecliptic to the 'tilt' of the earth's axis to the ecliptic.
