Alex, Hopefully you didn't think my reply to your post was condesending.It wasn't meant like that.Your reply to it was rather peevish.I didn't really know what direction you wanted to go with your origanal post on this matter and hoped you would narrow the direction you wanted to go with your reply.You did that.Nor do I know how much you know of or are interested in other navigation techniques. As for your origonal question or inquiry(now that I semi understand it)don't you think the bright boys and girls of the past would have already developed and refined the methods to "accurately" accomplish what you ask without useing a sextant? They didn't to my knowledge therefore it doesn't exist.
