Jim, If you like flight sims and cel nav Microsoft Flight Sim X has accurate stars and a bubble sextant add on that can be installed in any aircraft. You can plan and reduce your sights on paper just as you normally would using the bubble sextant to take your sights. When I want excitment I set the clouds so I can fly above them without being able to see the ground and then fly by dead reckoning and cel nav fixes only. It can be pretty thrilling to decend into the cloud layer hoping when you break through there is an airport where you think it should be.
