Yes John, I had a reply from Ken stating that if you proceed carefully with the C&P bubble attachment (i.e averaging two readings from the top and bottom of the bubble) it can provide a precision of 1 minute of arc and this would be the same as with an aircraft bubble sextant MK IXA for instance.
Otherwise it can be several minutes of arc.

Have you had any reply from Ken Gebhart, perhaps off-line, or an opinion on using a C&P bubble horizon on a marine sextant versus an aircraft sextant?
