A conventional sextant with a bubble attachment will not perform as well as an aircraft bubble sextant with an averager for in the air observations. On land or at anchor in calm waters the sextant bubble attachment will put you in about a 6NM ballpark (guessing at the horizon at night would be almost as good). Unless traveling light is a high priority your best bet will be an aircraft bubble sextant over the bubble attachment. The thing to do is try various bubble sextants and bubble attachments before forking over the $900 bucks.
