    Joel and David,I can see both your points of view on the running fix.
    However,Jim Thompson wrote the original post and used the term "assumed
    position" in the context of the dr pos.That is how I interpreted his post.An
    AP is NOT the same as the dr or ep pos and that is what I want him to
    understand or at least explain to him.
    As Joel stated if he isn't useing reduction tables he doesn't need an "AP".
    I can understand wanting to use an AP to reduce a sight instead of a dr or
    ep if one has no confidence in the said dr or ep.Or if one uses reduction
    tables exclusively to find the needed data to obtain the intercept and Az.
    
    
    
    I had just interpreted his original proposition to mean DR.  It seemed to be
