    Hi Greg,

I'll try to snap a few raw images of the night sky with the 200mm and 35mm for you to analyze. Between 9 and 10pm Vega is in good position as a marker star near the zenith.  The most sensitive ISO is 6400 which should bring in plenty of stars at 1/2 second wide open.

Sounds good.  I looked up the 2000D's sensor on Photons to Photos [1], and the read noise is sufficiently low that ISO 1600 might be better overall for stars.  It will give two extra stops of dynamic range over ISO 6400, and the increase in read noise is very small.  But either ISO setting will work.  And for exposure, 1/2 second with the 200 mm and 2 seconds with the 35 mm would be about right.

    Cheers,
    Peter
