If the goal is to be self-reliant why get a calculator? Why not stick with paper all the way?
Currently there is "Long Term Almanac" good thru 2050 by Kolbe which includes sight reduction tables. All you need are work sheets and plotting sheets.
I'm not trying to dissuade you from a calculator, just pointing out that the ultimate in power independence is no need for power at all.
