    Still another remark:
    
    Maybe the crew of the repairing ship was to verify their chronometer rate by 
    double altitude method ashore, because the precise time wasn't sent through 
    the cable when they needed it - I wonder whether time signals were 
    transmitted through cables regularly, athough they were certainly used for 
    special purposes. But were regular time signals available on the cable at 
    least once during the day? I don't know, but I doubt about it.
