Couple of questions:
1. Now that C.Plath is no longer in the business of
sextant production, can one still get parts for them? Where? I know that
Cassens and Plath and C.Plath (pre-1993; before they made all of those
"improvements") had a lot of interchangeable parts but not all of
their individual components are compatible.
2. How is Cassens and Plath doing these days?.
They too, make a superb sextant but like C.Plath, they are expensive, which
prompts a third question:
3. What happened to C.Plath? Why couldn't they
continue to make a go of it? I know that sales were down considerably and
production costs were up, but if Cassens & Plath are still viable, why
couldn't C.Plath stay afloat?
Someone out there likely has the answers. If so, I'd
like to hear from you.
cheers
Robert
