Hello all; I have a C. Plath Professional Navistar sextant whitch has a cracked horizon shade glass. The frame, some type of plastic is intact. I have been looking for a source for a replacement shade assembly. If the assembly cannot be found, then I would consider purchasing the shade glass alone and attempt to remove the cracked one and rebond the new replacement glass into my frame. The glass is bonded into the plastic frame and may not be easily removed without damaging the frame?? The Professional model has two horizon shades, the outer (darker) shade glass is the one which is cracked and must be replaced. The sextant information follows: C. Plath Navistar Professional Sextant SN: 72969 The outer, darker horizon shade glass is cracked. The assembly (PN molded on shade frame C.P.31900) or a replacement glass shade is needed. The shade glass is 1.580 inches in diameter and 0.062 inches thick. Any help or suggestions in location this part would be greatly appreciated. Ken Gebhart of Celestaire and Ridge White of Robert E. White have been very helpful but do not have parts for the Professional model. R. E. White does stock many parts for other C. Plath sextants.
