As memory and some reading serve, the M. Low company were located in New York City, Brooklyn I think, and were reputed to make quite good Mark 3 sextants for the Navy.
By the way, as I recall, we had exchanged correspondence on technical (navigation) books. I came on reference to Slide Rule For The Mariner by Capt. Shufeldt, got a copy from Carnegie Library, looks interesting, I ordered a copy which should be arriving before to long. Additionally, got a copy of The Calculator Afloat, also by Capt. Shufeldt and Ken Newcomer. This last described as "a second edition of Slide Rule For The Mariner". Another that might interest some is Piloting/Navigation with the Pocket Calculator by Jack Buchanek and Ed Bergin. Happy holidays.
