Hi All I am new to this group, and if this request is appropriate, I would appreciate some assistance from members if at all possible. I have owned a C. Plath Navistar Classic since 1985 which I regularly used on sailing yachts for over 10 years and many thousands of miles. With the introduction of GPS it was relegate to life at home, with the occasional trip out, when friends requested demonstrations of the perceived black magic art of celestial navigation. In a moment of madness, I agreed to lend it to a good friend, who recently sailed across the Atlantic as crew on a tall ship, to practice his new found skill after completing an ocean navigation course at night school. Unfortunately, when I received it back the original manual had had disappeared and been replaced by with the standard Navistar manual, that doesn't fit in the slot in the foam interior. Also the mirror screw adjusting tool had disappeared. I have to say my once good friend has made attempts to buy me an identical replacement sextant in perfect condition with all the ancillary components in the case. However, I would be happy just to replace the missing items. Therefore, if there is anyone who could assist me in sourcing these items I would be most grateful. Regards John PS I am now very mush aware of the old saying of "Don't lend your Horse, Dog, Wife, Gun or Sextant to any man" as over the past few weeks I have been told it, in a number of variations on the theme. PPS its good to know that there is still an enthusiastic group of people keeping this traditional skill alive. ------------------------------------------- [Sent from archive by: jr-AT-ratters.co.uk] --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
