    Gregory's lunar ultimately showed that his chronometer was
    slow by nearly 14 minutes, as I understand.  If he expected
    that result, then perhaps he was correct in picking a Mars
    polar distance from a bit later in the day than his chronometer
    indicated.  In any case, it doesn't look like it contributes
    much error to the LMT calculation.

    method of reducing the lunar with logs.
