In one of his books he describes -- in detail -- his use of an HP-65
programmable calculator to help him do sight reduction. He even wrote
some of his own navigation software. He took his son along on one of
these big trips as a "rite of passage" into manhood.
All of this was very inspiring to me as a young teenager in the 70s
and helped me get more into celestial nav. Buckley also made a VHS
    tape describing celestial nav.
    He will be missed.
