Re: Bubble fluid - any difference in behavior between xylene and alcohol?

    Hi Art and David,

Thanks for your recommendations. I may try putting shellack on the outside of the gasket and glass edge. My reconditioned A-12 from Ron Digiovanni has that, and the bubble has held for several years without any change. I like the fact that the shellack is thin and will penetrate into the area around the seals, finding the gaps I missed (even if it kind of spendy).

I will have to get rid of the alcohol in the chamber now, but if I open the refilling hole and remove the metal ball, I am hoping entropy will do the job for me. Neither xylene or silicon fluid should dissolve that, although I don't kow about white spirits - I will have to experiment.

    Brian
