I was looking at the Celesticomp V and the Star Pilot and was wondering if they deal with readings from bubble sextants. Do you have to treat semi-diameters as errors or can you just set the reading for center of the body? I have tried pocket stars on the PC and it can't deal with bubbles.(A great pity as I like the price). Besides that, it calls Alkaid by some other name and that gets me worried. I know I should use nothing but my Nories Tables and my slate, but I am a weak man and am often tempted by shiny objects and electronic gadgets. I have to give people some idea of what to get me for my birthday! PS The ability of the A-12 to superimpose a bubble on the sky is just brilliant. I don't need a horizon and can shoot the stars all night. Speaking of which, has any one ever tried a night vision scope on a nautical sextant?
