"If this is 'Benetnasch' don't worry. It's the name used in the German Nautical Almanach." Benetnasch was formerly also the common name in British navigation publications. When the American and British almanacs began coordinating their efforts in the 1950s (leading to the joint publication starting fifty years ago this year), the first step was to settle on a common list of star names. Thus Benetnasch became Alkaid, and Deneb Kaitos became Diphda in trade. -FER --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
