Does anyone on the list have access to a copy of Brown's Nautical Almanac from c.1890-1910? I've been looking at one from 1885 that has an interesting "bug", and I'm curious to see if it was ever fixed in later editions. The "bug" involves lunar distance tables. Tables of predicted lunar distances were included in Brown's Nautical Almanac even at this late date. This privately published nautical almanac was relatively popular, and it was apparently a "selling point" for certain navigators that the lunar tables were included. The interesting thing is that this almanac did not include corresponding data for the Moon's HP --which renders the included lunar distance tables completely useless(!). The tables were printed for form, but not for function. But did anyone ever notice in the era? Were corresponding values of Moon HP included in later editions? -FER --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ To post to this group, send email to NavList@fer3.com To , send email to NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
