Hi all,
Recently, in doing some research, I came across a book previously unknown to me, which simply may attest to my stupidity, yet I feel obliged to throw it out for possible further discussion. Entitled "An Improved Practical Navigator", 3rd Edition 1809, originally by Bowditch, and revised by Thomas Kirby, and published in GB. Kirby, in his preface gives full credit to Bowditch and appears at least to imply that publication rights were duly purchased. I have not been able to establish a 1st
edition date, however, do note with interest that the 1st Edition of Norie's Epitome came out in 1805, and cannot help but wonder as to the potential cross influences of these various pubs. I have not had the time to fully examine this pub and am unable to comment further at this time.
Regards,
Henry
