    It looks like a clever idea for sun sights.  Wikipedia says it's made
    of microscope slides, and I suspect that we could make them to play
    with easily enough.
    
    A bit of string through a ``calibrated'' stick would make a compact
    cross-staff, but this is way more compact than that.
