Robert, A Bris sextant is an interesting little tool. Here are a few links that explain the little guy and how to use one. Also, searching the archives I found a few threads about this device. One is Navigation 0301 by Gary Harkins a few years ago. Here are the links(you have to have a translator to read these): http://www.yrvind.com/ http://www.cassons-plath.de/catalog/096e.html I quite enjoy useing the one I have in the backyard or on trips to the desert. Small, compact and easy to use.I use a Palm OS based N.A. and reduction program(I also carry a GPS along) as both are compact and easy to use and that is important while hiking/backpacking in the desert .
