Greg, Thanks for your advise: a little cleaning of inner surfaces indeed restored all 8 images:-) I suspect that the following happened. On my trip to Helgoland, I put my Bris on a rope as a pendant on my neck, under the shirt. The weather was very hot, and the glass could be fogged by the sweat:-) Cleaning the inner surfaces is difficult: I used a needle and a piece of fine silk to wipe it from inside. Still I could not reach the sharp corner. The pattern of the images on my Bris is different from yours: b,b, d,b,d, d,d, d, where b and d stand for "bright" and "dim", and the number of spaces approximately reflects the pattern. Actual altitudes (for the center of the Sun) are approximately 10,13, 21,24,26, 34,36, 47 degrees.
