    Greg and Alex

The make up of the filter (darker glass) can also make a difference in
the number of images, depending on whether it is tinted all the way
    through or surface coated.

A polarizing filter, if darker film sandwiched between two pieces of
clear glass, might also add a wrinkle to the equation.
