Box Sextant Magnifier

I just bought an Elliott Bros London box sextant. Cute beyond belief. But – missing the magnifier arm and reading the vernier scales is way beyond my eyes. Could someone who has a box sextant give me an estimate on the diameter of the magnifier lens, is it convex on both sides, and approximately what is the lens distance from the scale and from your eye while in use?
