A better low-cost option might be to look on eBay and pick up and older edition. These days, there are a lot of 1936-1943 editions for sale cheap, as the WWII generation dies off and their copies of BOwditch, Dutton, and Mixter come out of the attic. These editions don't cover HO229, electronics, or provide much of the calculations behind the tables. The 1958 edition, reprinted a couple of times in the 1960's is better in those regards. The two-volume sets from the 1970's and 1980's are best. The 1995 (and presumably, 2000) edition omits much historical info and many tables. -- Peter
