Frank-  Thanks for this heads-up.  I'm trying to do a similar facebook blog for my friends, most of whom are not stargazers or even lookuppers. I'm getting nice responses, especially for favorable ISS passes and Iridium flares.  Looking forward to finding and watching Lovejoy.

My excursions into the streets of Mountain View have been most rewarding, and I always have a telescope/binocs at the ready for the kids (any age) in our cul-de-sac.

If you care, you can read a little excerpt from a report from a recent evening.

"Our town is the most diverse of any in the area. We have Google HQ with all the smart Googleers, young scantily clad gals on their way to the trendy nightclub just a few hundred feet away, retirees, Stanford profs and students and mendicants of all shapes and sizes. One of my favorite pitiful besotted souls of the streets staggered up to the telescope, looked in, and in an instant was transformed. He actually knew something of the night sky. His speech became more distinct. I thought he was tearing up a bit, as he gazed into the eyepiece. He thanked me profusely for the experience. You know, I pass him almost every day and don't think he remembers me, but hopefully he remembers his view of the Moon."

And since this is near the end of the year, I want to thank NavList for being there. I read all the posts and marvel at the attention to detail, the dedication. I've learned so much. My New Year's resolution is to get to it and use my wonderful Troughton and Simms. I'm hung up right now on devising the best artificial horizon EVER ;). (or should I say, NEVER).
