I have seen a Tamaya sextant with legs like that so
that you could set it down with the handle facing up.
That particular Tamaya sextant, owned by a friend, has
a drum for reading the minutes, but no vernier scale
on the drum. Still, it is easy enough to visually
interpolate to the nearest 0.2 minutes.
