Just search for "shellac woodworking" in google shopping and you can find the product that Bill Morris recommends, should you have that antique sextant.

If it's an antique you could try flake shellac. Place shade mounting and glass on an upturned electric iron set to maximum heat and apply flakes of shellac to the mounting where the glass is to sit. Insert the glass and apply some more in any gap between the mounting and the glass. Remove from the iron and allow to cool. Then chip off excess shellac with a sharp implement and finish off with a rag moistened in alcohol (in which shellac is soluble).
Alternatively, Araldite UltraClear is probably as good as anything else. Though it's more difficult to clean up than is shellac it's easier to find.
