I just posted a message on this topic, in which was written- >It still leaves a discrepancy, now reduced to 5', unresolved. I'm not >familiar with the sextant that was used, but would be very surprised if >any sextant, even a plastic one, showed an error in its scale calibration >of as much as 5'. That contained a silly error, for which I apologise. For an error in sextant scale calibration to give rise to an error of 5' in Sun altitude when measured by reflection in an artificial horizon, it would have to be out by 10', not 5'. Sorry about that. George. =============================================================== Contact George at george@huxtable.u-net.com ,or by phone +44 1865 820222, or from within UK 01865 820222.
