Andrés,
Here's one that might not be on everyone's list: Carry on, Mr. Bowditch by Jean Lee Latham.
It is a children's book (I would guess aimed at about 5th grade). One the Newberry in 1956. Delightful fictionalized account of the life and career of Nathaniel Bowditch.

I have read books by Patrick O'Brian (Aubrey & Maturin, Master & Commander) and Alexander Kent (Richard Bolitho). Any review to other novels will be welcomed.Regards,
