    Then I should say plainly, LOOKING THROUGH A TELESCOPE AT THE FULL SUN WILL DAMAGE YOUR EYE PERMANENTLY!

    But what about the optical cause of this... That's still an open issue. And 
    how much sun is actually guaranteed to be dangerous? If you glimpse Bailly's 
    beads through binoculars while the total phase of an eclipse is coming to an 
    end, are you doomed? Probably not.
