Thanks, Frank. Yes, I do have a unit mag 'scope' as one of the options- a small eyepiece aperture and a larger objective aperture and a tube, but no lenses. So, I'm all set. At present working out how to get the other included pieces to focus properly. I'll report on my dioptric adventures after I've completed them. I measured all the lens focal lengths and in the process noted that one was negative. I hadn't noticed before. So, I must have at least 1 Galilean in the included collection.

With a 10x loupe and good light, I just discovered that the eyepiece end of the longest tube IS indeed two tubes. They look pretty welded, but I'll give it some Kroil and some time, as suggested. The crosshairs are on this end and I'd like not to damage them.

The attached picture is of the great David and Goliath focus-off. In the background is my wonderful Nikon D2 autocollimator which I'll be using to check focus and image quality- One of the perqs of working in the optics industry.

    Norm
