Hello,  I recently made a vague comment about Baker's Positon Line Charts.  I said then, that they are similar to VPOS charts, but larger.  That is sort of true, but one essential difference is that the Longitude lines on the Baker chart are present upon the printed sheet... whereas on a VPOS sheet, the user sets (draws) the longitude lines.  Another difference is that on the Baker Charts, the curving scales (there are two of them) are for latitude rather than for longitude as they are on the VPOS charts.  The Baker's Latitude scales are much larger than the single longitude scale of the VPOS.  I wish, as I wrote earlier, that I knew how to post photos on this site.  But, perhaps better is to refer anyone interested to Eric Hiscock's Voyaging Under Sail (either in its original, stand alone form or in the later form where it was combined with Cruising Under sail).  There, there are good images of the Baker Chart.  When looking this out, I was reminded of the fact (which I had quite forgotten) that Hiscock's instructions on Celestial navigation were amoungst the eaarliest that I studied.
