Robert, your horoscope was set at the moment of your birth - nothing you can do about it now....

And - there is no reason why you cannot use astrological ephemerides for celestial navigation. The moon's position is only given once (or maybe twice) a day, which is a bit limiting, and stars are usually not given in astrological ephemerides, but as far as the sun and the planets are concerned I think they are pretty usable.
