If it's an astrocompass, then the reading "in the cockpit" would be true heading rather than latitude and longitude, right? And would an astrocompass intended for Arctic navigation use Polaris? It seems to me that in high latitudes, this would not be a great choice (since Polaris would be near the zenith and the azimuth lines converge there). Sure looks cool.
