I'm just wondering, as I do more practice sextant work with an artificial horizon (dog bowl of water): if I were to use plexiglass pieces to protect the water from wind (the way the Davis artificial horizon does), would you expect there to be any refraction problems from the light passing through the glass? Does anyone have experience with this?
