George and Brad, You were right on the money with the suggestion that tilt was my problem with reading the A.H. It seems so obvious now, that I wonder how I could have failed to see it for myself. I found last night, looking at a couple of faintly-reflected stars, that I could even use the "wobble" to my advantage. As the two images came together it could be hard to tell whether they were precisely even or barely offset vertically, but moving them slightly apart and back again by rocking the sextant helped to keep them distinct until the moment of measurement. I'm anxious to work out the sight and compare it to reesults obtained before. -John --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
